Four from Bergamo: Elisa Balsamo, 28 years old, Chiara Consonni, 27, Arianna Fidanza, 31, and Silvia Persico, 29. Each has well-defined roles: Balsamo and Consonni chase sprint victories; Fidanza tackles the race as a joker and aims for breakaways; Persico, finally, will serve Elisa Longo Borghini, following the leader’s instructions, who aims for the overall classification.

Favorite sprinters in the first 137-kilometer stage in Lausanne and tomorrow in the second. Tuesday, August 4 the 21-kilometer time trial; understandably worrying is the seventh stage, which features the arrival at Mont Ventoux. The kilometers spread over nine stages are 1,175, with an elevation gain of 18,795 meters. Last year the French Pauline Ferrand Prevot won.
