Countdown to the last match before the long break for the national teams: Sunday, September 20 Atalanta will close the first cycle of the championship with the away game at Juventus (at 6 pm at the Allianz Stadium) and some changes are expected in the lineup. In midfield, the chances are growing for the confirmation of Franck Kessie, deployed in tandem with the returning Gianluca Gaetano (out against Cagliari due to suspension). To complete the midfield trio could be José Ederson, in which case Lazar Samardzic would have to sit on the bench. The attack is yet to be decided although at the moment the front three De Ketelaere-Scamacca-Rowe seems to be gaining ground.
Sarri: «Juve? No regrets»
Meanwhile, on Friday, September 18, Atalanta coach Maurizio Sarri spoke to Sky Sport ahead of the match against his former team: «That season in Turin was a strange one (2019/20 marked by Covid, ed.) with stadiums practically empty from March onwards, perhaps also for this reason I don’t have great memories of that experience. In any case, no regrets». Sarri then spoke about the market and the team: «Of the six new signings, some arrived at the start of summer preparation, some on the last day, some with physical problems that limited their initial work. The most important element to build something together is their willingness to work. They are important and valuable players, some still to be trained and developed».
