A silver mine. After the one already achieved in the all-around competition, on Sunday, July 26, Yumin Abbadini won silver on the high bar and on the pommel horse on the last day of the Italian Absolute Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Meda.
Silver hat-trick and European pass
For the 25-year-old from Ranica, it’s a prestigious hat-trick celebrated by the call-up for the European Championships in August in Zagreb, revealed by the Italian technical director Giuseppe Cocciaro at the end of the competitions.
Farewell to the high bar title
Abbadini had qualified for the specialty finals on the high bar, pommel horse, floor exercise, and rings but only competed in the first two. On the pommel horse, Yumin, the reigning champion, delivered a good performance, but his score of 13.900 was not enough to fend off Gabriele Targhetta’s assault, who won the title.
One step away from the national title
Abbadini also performed an excellent routine on the high bar, with three jumps (including the Cassina) and a perfect dismount that earned him second place (14.100) just one tenth behind the winner Carlo Macchini.
