1 min read.Third pre-season outing for Maurizio Sarri’s Atalanta: after the family friendly with the Under23 last Saturday in Clusone (2-1 victory for the “seniors”) and Wednesday evening’s 1-1 draw with Mantova, this time the guest at the Bortolotti Sports Center in Zingonia is Arezzo. The Tuscans, in training camp these weeks in Val Seriana, are fresh from the prestigious scalp of Napoli (1-3, Wednesday) and a draw with Folgore Caratese on Saturday in Clusone (1-1).
For Atalanta, 7 starters were confirmed for the third friendly (Carnesecchi in goal, Scalvini at the center of defense, Bernasconi left-back, Samardzic-Gaetano-Zalewski the midfield pivot, Raspadori left offensive winger). Bellanova, Djimsiti, Cassa and Scamacca completed the starting XI.
As with Napoli, Arezzo confirms itself to be athletically on another level compared to the Serie A big teams. This time it’s Atalanta who suffer the intensity of coach Bucchi’s amaranto: just over a minute and Arena paints it into the opposite top corner with a curling left-footed shot after a poor possession management between Samardzic and Bernasconi, while in the 7th minute Illanes breaks free alone from a corner from Tavernelli’s right.

After conceding 0-2, Atalanta manages to find some solutions with the ball – Raspadori (right-footed shot saved by Seculin in the 11th and 27th minutes) is the most active – but the evident lack of condition compared to Arezzo always takes its toll when the visitors circulate the ball. Spared on a couple of occasions by Sala and Cerri, the Nerazzurri show some signs of nervousness: Sarri and Carnesecchi are the most active in pointing out errors, and Zalewski is the first to pay the price. The Pole is replaced in the 40th minute by Ibrahim Sulemana: the “punitive” substitution is poorly received by the former Inter player, who returned directly to the Zingonia changing rooms.
