Atalanta, almost 7 thousand fans at the stadium

There is already a strong desire for Atalanta: great turnout at the open training session of the nerazzurri at the New Balance Arena on the evening of Tuesday, August 4th. About 6,700 fans filled the stands of the Orobic stadium.

Sarri and the team entered the pitch at 7 PM and, amid applause and chants from those present, began the training session under the Curva Nord.

After warming up with a few minutes of rondo, the team was split into two groups: while one group played six against six on about thirty meters, the other ran. Then a single group and a small-sided game on 70 meters of the field. The training session ended around 8:15 PM.

CdK’s first training session

Maurizio Sarri’s players were joined for the first time by Charles De Ketelaere, the last of the eight internationals who participated in the World Cup to return from vacation. On Monday, the Belgian returned for medical, physical, and athletic tests; on Tuesday, he participated with teammates in repetitions and small-sided games.

In the open sector, two banners signed by Curva Nord were displayed. The first in support of Cristian Raimondi, a former player who for the first time since 2017 is not listed among the technical staff collaborators: “Cr77 (from initials and jersey number, ed.) seriousness, experience, atalantinità…We want you back with the team under the curve of your city.”

At the end, with the team under the curve greeting the supporters, a probable reference to the away bans, Saturday in Gelsenkirchen against Schalke 04 as last Sunday in Rotterdam with Feyenoord, and to the closed-door friendlies in Zingonia in recent weeks against Mantova and Arezzo: “A fanbase that when called upon has always responded present. Bring Atalanta back among its people.”
