Italy, fresh from a 3-2 victory the day before in Verona against Belgium, paid the price and Turkey returned the 3-0 defeat suffered on Thursday in Val di Fiemme to the world champion team. Coach De Giorgi left Bergamo native Matteo Staforini out of the 14-man squad and former Agnelli Tipiesse player Tim Held on the bench, trying different rotations. The bottom line is that the fatigue took its toll immediately with a chronic chase essentially from the first to the last ball. Now, Italy’s adventure in the Nations League will begin.
It kicks off on June 10 in Ottawa, Canada, against France (10 PM), 24 hours later at the same time against Germany, then on the 14th (1:30 AM) Turkey again, and the last match against the United States at midnight on Monday the 15th.
