The return of Gaetano and the midfield puzzle are at the center of Atalanta’s thoughts, ahead of the match against Juventus, Sunday, September 20 at the Allianz Stadium in Turin (at 18:00).
Gaetano-Kessie
After serving his suspension against Cagliari, Gaetano is back at Sarri’s disposal who must resolve the competition with Kessie. But the idea is emerging that the two contenders could be fielded simultaneously, with Gaetano in the playmaker role, Kessie moved to the mezzala position and Ederson completing the trio. The Kessie-Gaetano-Ederson midfield would provide more muscle and more running: if so, the sacrificed player would be Samardzic, otherwise confirmed in the right interior role with one between Gaetano and Kessie as playmaker.

The left wing dilemma
Some doubts also on the left side of the attack. After the start from the first minute against Cagliari Rowe is challenged by Elmas whom Sarri could start in a less offensive but more coverage-oriented front three. Scamacca and De Ketelaere are sure starters. In defense Bernasconi is competing with Kolasinac for the left-back role, while in the center Kossounou remains ahead of Kristensen.
Seven Nerazzurri in the national team
Meanwhile, call-ups to the national team have arrived for seven Atalanta players: Pasalic (Croatia), Kolasinac (Bosnia), Krstovic (Montenegro), Zalewski (Poland), Elmas (North Macedonia) and the Ivorians Kessie and Kossounou. On Friday the 18th, the call-ups from the Azzurri coach Roberto Mancini are expected who has pre-alerted Carnesecchi, Scalvini, Bellanova, Zappacosta, Gaetano, Scamacca and Raspadori.
