A tradition that continues, one way or another: that between Bergamo and the Giro d’Italia . There won’t be a stage finish on the Sentierone, as in 2023 with American Brandon McNulty’s victory, but this year too the pink race will return to color the streets of the province. On Wednesday, May 27, the 17th stage, from Cassano d’Adda to Andalo, will cross the Bergamo area for about forty kilometers. A brief passage, but enough to bring all the charm of the Giro back to the streets: pink banners, decorated balconies, colorful bicycles, families and schools ready to await the peloton.
The towns
The entry into the province will occur shortly after the start, around kilometer 4. The caravan will pass through Vaprio d’Adda and Verdello, then cross the Bassa: Urgnano, Cologno al Serio, Ghisalba, and Palosco, before approaching the Palazzolo sull’Oglio area. After a first crossing into the Brescia area, the Giro will return to Bergamo territory, passing through Grumello del Monte and Sarnico, then towards Lake Iseo and the Paratico bridge, where it will definitively leave the province.

Even for a few minutes, when the Giro passes, it’s always a popular festival. The towns stop, the streets fill up, and the race becomes a collective ritual, capable of uniting different generations. It will also be an opportunity to applaud the Bergamo riders still in the race up close: Lorenzo Milesi, a protagonist of constant growth, Simone Gualdi, making his debut and already showing his skills, as well as the experienced Lorenzo Rota and Simone Consonni, always ready to seize the right opportunity.
The times
The passage is expected shortly after 12:30 PM in the Verdello and Bassa area, while Grumello del Monte and Sarnico will see the peloton around 1:05 PM, before the more eventful part towards Andalo.
