A pity only for the too many algae, with which someone fought – but in the end the XXVIII edition of the Iseo Lake Crossing was recorded as a great success, starting with the numbers. Like 535, the participants who swam the three kilometers that separate the shore of Predore from that of Iseo, a new participation record for the historic event. And still 35 minutes and 1 second, the time of Samuele Salvi, the absolute winner: the 16-year-old from Ospitaletto was the first to cross the finish line, winning his second consecutive victory.
The all-Brescia podium
If the podium is all Brescia (Mattia Germino from Calcinato came second with a time of 35:09; in 3rd place Arnaldo Bonfadini from Iseo with 35:13), Bergamo did not stand by. The first from Bergamo to touch the Brescia shore was 32-year-old Simone Pasqualini from Villongo with a time of 38 minutes and 54 seconds, placing 11th in the overall ranking. Behind him Francesco Piantoni, 39-year-old from Predore, 23rd with a time of 40:33, and Andrea Alberti, 34-year-old from Villongo, who finished 30th with 41:18.

First among women (and 10th overall), the 14-year-old from Rovato Irene Alborghetti swam for 37 minutes and 36 seconds before touching the shore. On the Bergamo side, the first to arrive were Alice Danesi, 13-year-old from Tavernola Bergamasca, who finished the race in 43 minutes and 44 seconds, just ahead of 25-year-old Beatrice Sora from Foresto Sparso (43:49). Behind them, ranked 64th and 65th, 36-year-old Daniela Vegini from Alzano Lombardo finished 80th with a time of 45:11.
«An exceptional race»
«It was an exceptional race with perfect weather», comments Mauro Zanetti president of Asd Nuoto Master of Brescia, the sports club that organizes the event which every year moves hundreds of athletes – competitive and non – and volunteers among civil protection groups and 118, Guardia di Finanza, Alpini and local organizations (such as Fuori Quota or Nuova Cordata associations) who make themselves available.
