Reading 2 min.Eighty days after the extraordinary promotion celebration in Ospitaletto, already rightfully entered in the history books of the city club, Italian Floor Design Rugby Bergamo returned to the field to start preparing for the historic 2026/27 competitive season, the return to Serie A2 after 35 years. Before the inaugural warm-up on the Sghirlanzoni field, the nearly 50 athletes present welcomed the inaugural speech of the new president Antonio Musco, elected in June (with Giulio Donati becoming honorary president and vice president), who congratulated the group for the achievement in May and launched the new season, transmitting new passion and a sense of responsibility to all members in view of the new and intriguing adventure in A2.
Musco: “Many emotions”
“The more days I spend in office, the more I feel the honors and duties, emotions and responsibilities of this role. Obviously thinking about this wonderful team, which earned the right to compete on a stage like Serie A, but also about all the boys in our youth sector and those figures such as managers, coaches, collaborators, and volunteers who contribute every day to the life of the club,” Musco explained, not without emotion.
Schipani: “Very important year”

Special sensations but also clear goals for Roberto Schipani, head coach and director of rugby, reconfirmed after the extraordinary run that allowed the yellow-red club to reach (and win) the playoffs. “For the club and each of its members, this is a very important year: we want to prove, result after result, not only a club that has arrived in this category, but a team capable of consolidating itself in Serie A,” the Orobic coach began, satisfied with the first response in terms of attendance and attitude. “Although we decided to start preparation a week early, as well as adding a fourth weekly training session, which will be structured functionally during the year, we immediately had a very strong and focused participation. A source of pride and a push to improve further, as we are doing on the locker room front, beautified and made more modern also regarding video analysis.”
Growth that for Schipani will also come on the field from the continuity of the technical staff and the group: “With Ivano (Bonacina, ed.) and Danilo (Beretta, ed.) a wonderful chemistry has been created. Market? If there is the possibility to add a new player of very high level, we will consider it, otherwise we will continue with total confidence with the current group. We must not rest on our laurels, however, because others study us: we must be ready for a stage as stimulating as it is complex like Serie A, where extraordinary skills on the oval field will be needed but also the ability to best manage any negative moments.” And, outside, from the ten-year concession for the management of the Utili field, which during the year will become increasingly central (the hope is to play the return leg there) in the logistics of a club, Ifd Rugby Bergamo, that wants more and more to be Serie A.
