After the bitter elimination from the 200m final, on Sunday, August 9, the 19-year-old from Bergamo, due to her grandparents and training base (first at Putti, now in Brusaporto), signs one of the greatest feats of Italian athletics, second leg of the quartet launched by Fermin Gvan, consolidated by Francesco Pagliarini and sent into orbit by Kelly Doualla for the final 41”21. A dazzling flash that leaves behind Great Britain, the United States, and Jamaica and is worth the new world record.
The relay treble
“Gold and world record… wow! We have shown our worth,” rejoiced Valensin who adds the most precious gem to the collection of triumphs made brilliant by the European Under 18 title two years ago and the Junior continental title in Tampere last year.
For Bergamo athletics, it is the first world gold in the youth event, the second medal after Alessandra Iezzi’s bronze in the 4×400 in Nairobi, in 2021.
